Cutting Board Care Instructions

Proper Care will keep your cutting board beautiful and long lasting.

Cleaning (After Each Use)

  • Hand wash only using warm water and mild dish soap
  • Clean promptly after use
  • Use a soft sponge or cloth
  • Dry immediately with a towel
  • Stand upright or on edge to fully air dry

đŸš« Never soak, dishwasher, or leave submerged in water

Oiling & Conditioning

  • Oil monthly, or whenever the board looks dry or dull
  • Use food-grade mineral oil or a cutting board conditioner (mineral oil + beeswax)
  • Apply oil generously to all sides
  • Let soak for several hours or overnight
  • Wipe off excess before use

💡 Regular oiling prevents cracking, warping, and moisture absorption.

Deep Cleaning & Odor Removal

For stains or food odors:

  • Sprinkle coarse salt or baking soda on the surface
  • Scrub with half a lemon or a damp cloth
  • Rinse quickly and dry thoroughly

For extra sanitation:

  • Lightly wipe with a 1:5 vinegar-to-water solution
  • Dry immediately

đŸš« Do not use bleach or harsh chemicals

What to Avoid

  • Dishwasher or microwave
  • Prolonged exposure to water
  • Extreme heat or direct sunlight
  • Leaving boards flat on wet countertops
  • Using olive, vegetable, or cooking oils (they can go rancid)

Knife Marks & Wear

  • Light knife marks are normal and expected
  • They do not affect safety or performance
  • Boards can be lightly sanded and re-oiled if desired

Storage

  • Store in a dry area
  • Allow airflow around the board
  • Standing upright is recommended

Important Notes

  • Natural wood variations in color and grain are normal
  • Slight movement with seasonal humidity changes is natural
  • Proper care greatly extends the life of your board
